Lee, a 50-year-old daughter, chose to institutionalize her 81-year-old father for supportive care. She respects her father and has great gratitude, but her filial piety is not absolute. Lee believed that living with her father and physically taking care of him was not an obligation. Lee viewed her father as an individual with different needs.
