Properly Functioning NGT. While continuous suction is applied to the larger, white, suction port, air injected through the smaller, blue, air-sump port must be seen circulating out the suction tubing to be sure that the stomach is empty. When room air is pulled into the blue air-sump port, a reassuring whistle is sometimes heard.
